Cute and friendly flashpacker rooms

What we say: 4 stars

Smile Bungalows provide great value for money, tucked in an alcove at the west end of Bottle beach and climbing their way up a hill. The quaint bungalows are made of wood, and interiors are roomy and clean, with a big bed raised on a platform in a style typical of higher-end resorts. A mosquito net hangs above. The mattress is a bit springy, but being able to look out the glass sliding doors, over your private patio, to a lovely seaview that's only partially-bloacked by trees, makes up for it. A set of stairs adjacent to the bed leads to the bathroom downstairs. Concrete and wood, with rocks implanted into the wall as decoration, the bathroom has a funky, cave-like feel and is clean and spacious, though amenities are basic. The on-site restaurant is laidback but good, with items including a club sandwich with perfectly-cooked and seasoned chicken (150 baht) and delicious strawberry-coconut shakes for 70 baht.
