Malibu
A bit of a mixed bag

What we say:
While boasting a beachfront location, Malibu sits partially on the beach, but most bungalows are actually behind a small lagoon that empties in to the sea. There is a big clean pool as an alternative to the sea and the beach here is really very good and private — especially when compared to elsewhere in Chaloklum. The stretch of sand features trees strung with hammocks and the laid-back Malibu Beach Bar. This is one of the coolest bars in town and attracts visitors from around town at night. The bungalows are all clean but vary greatly in quality and price. The basic little fan huts that sit near the lagoon are drafty with thin woven walls and are well overpriced — especially those in the rows packed behind. The middle range rooms are probably the best value offering mod cons in a solid style. The deluxe air-con rooms sit back from the beach and lagoon and are more spacious and comfortable. With cushy beds, refrigerators and bath tubs these are a great choice and not too spendy for the quality. All rooms come with breakfast which is reported to be dire and the service can be a bit hit and miss.

Nice resort but a little stingy
We stayed for a week in an a/c bungalow. The room was really nice and the resort itself (especially the pool) was great. The thing that annoyed us was the stinginess of management. Firstly, if you wanted your room serviced you had to find the cleaners and ask them to do it. They also didn't restock the water which for the price they charge was quite surprising. Also, when we went to leave they charged us a crazy price for the transfer to the pier, which given the length of our stay was dissappointing. The restaurant was nice and not too expensive. We had a great time but it just would have been better if the staff were a little friendlier.
