Try Thong is separated from the rest of Chaloklum and most of the beach by a canal that becomes a rushing river after any rainfall. This can make for quite an inconvenience, having to slosh through (not the cleanest) water to get anywhere. A small, somewhat rocky stretch of beach with a volleyball net adorns Try Thong's side of the canal. Most rooms don't sit on the beach, but some of the older wooden bungalows near the sea offer decent views. Current lodging options include spacious and relatively clean but worn old bungalows, some private and others in pairs. These rooms are passable and inexpensive, but certainly not the best value around. A better choice are the newer cement huts with air-con. Though further from the beach, these charming rooms are scattered around lovely green grounds and provide a good deal more comfort at a fair price.
