What we say: 4 stars

One could easily spend several days at Loyfa without needing to leave. The friendly staff welcome all guests with a smile and make everyone feel like part of the family. Primarily a backpacker den, Loyfa has a variety of inexpensive bungalows as well as slightly more posh rooms for bigger spenders. The cheaper units atop the hill are older style wooden huts, many with excellent views. While they're clean, some are definitely showing their age. Newer concrete bungalows offer more size and comfort, and some sit on Loyfa's private stretch of rocky beach. While this place is fairly secluded, the hilltop restaurant can be a happening hang out and a good place to meet fellow travellers. With pool tables, foosball and a great selection of cocktails and good food, many guests make their way here in the evening to unwind after a day at the beach or strenuous hours of hammock swinging. Laundry, travel assistance and internet are available, and motorbikes and jeeps can be rented if you decide to explore more of the island.
