Sea Scene Resort
Excellent flashpacking option

What we say:
Offering comfortable budget to midrange accommodations, Sea Scene is situated on a lovely stretch of beach toward the northern end of Plaaylaem and offers the finest rooms on this beach. A very relaxed and tranquil spot, Sea Scene is a romantic place for couples and caters to families as well. Many bungalows sit on or near the beach, though the cheapest huts are at least one row back. All are very sturdy and well-kept with comfortable beds and fluffy pillows. Much larger family rooms are also available at reasonable prices. The restaurant has a terrific ocean view and offers a fine selection of Thai, Chinese and European food along with inexpensive cocktails. There's also hammocks and chairs on the beach amidst tree cover that provides an escape from the sun. A great place to relax.

Quiet and near town
Being only 10 mins from Ton Sala I wasn't quite sure if this was a good choice as I usually like to stay at the quieter part of the island. However, Sea Scene was a great resort. The beach was never crowded, (we were there in high season) it was clean and the water was crystal clear and calm. The rooms were spotless and good value compared with a like for like comparison of elsewhere on the island nowadays. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the restaurant was good. The only downside was despite the fantastic setting, it was a little lacking in atmosphere. However, the adjoining resort next door has a great little beach bar. I'd recommend this place for anyone who wants to feel they are miles away from it all, but can also have the town centre within easy reach. Best of both worlds.
