Smile Beach is actually a few minutes' walk from the beach, but it is a very peaceful and quiet spot perfect for families and mid-range travellers.
The Lanna-style bungalows are attractive enough, but are showing a bit of wear and the gardens are a tad scruffy but at least the bungalows are well spaced. Rooms are clean, if a bit damp and come in a range of sizes with fan or air-con available. The prices are quite reasonable in the low season but nearly double at peak times (mid-December through January) making Smile Beach less good value. Service is friendly and professional. The restaurant here has a good selection of steak and seafood at good prices as well as cheap Thai food and an admirable cocktail list. Guests are served in private salas, and a free pool table is available for patrons. Breakfast is included.
