Wang Sai is a decent backpacker spot separated from the beach by a lagoon and a stand of trees and shrubs. The huts vary greatly in quality and location, with most sitting along a lush green mountainside and many featuring snazzy Thai-style designs while others are unimpressive plain bamboo huts. Hillside rooms are well-shaded and cool, some with sea views, but most are fairly worn. A few tiny huts also sit along the lagoon, providing very basic shelter. A bunch of newer bungalows, both very large and comfortable are available, with more on the way. Most of these sit back away from the beach but a few are quite close to the beach. A lovely building with a colourful spiralling staircase appears out of place but offers a few very cozy rooms at the foot of the mountain. The lagoon-side restaurant provides a laid-back hangout with a selection of books and games and an assortment of Thai and western cuisine.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.
