Haad Chao Phao Bungalows
Top budget spot

What we say:
A relatively small and intimate place on the edge of the beach, Haad Chao Phao Bungalows provides no-frills accommodations popular among backpackers and budget travellers. Most of their huts are small and somewhat worn but very close to the beach, while a couple of slightly newer, larger huts are in better shape and don't cost much more. Go for these larger bungalows if they're available. The rooms aren't luxurious, but they are certainly good for the price, and the relaxed family atmosphere and intimate beachside restaurant add to Haad Chao Phao's simple, rustic charm.

Loved this place!
I stayed here for bout 2 weeks in August of 2006 and it was my favorite place in Thailand next to Chiang Mai. Chart and Pam run the place and are very friendly and capable. The food is great. The bungalows are decent for their price, but the restrooms could be a bit better. The restaurant area was often frequented by people from all over the area. It's a good distance from the Full Moon Party and is nice and quiet at night. I very much enjoyed staying here.
