Yang Bungalows
Isolated and low-key

What we say:
Yang's blue-roofed bungalows spread up the forested hillside overlooking the bay and provide some of the cheapest accommodation on the island in one of the most remote locations. The bungalows are a mixed bag -- mostly very basic, and the small huts behind the restaurant are showing their age. Go for the larger huts closer to the sea. For only just a little more, they are much larger and more comfortable and provide a wonderful view of the small bay. While there is no beach at Ao Lang Khaay, a sturdy stairway leads down to the rocks at the water's edge where visitors can snorkel or relax with their thoughts. A peaceful, friendly place to truly get away from it all.

You NEED to go here!
IN BRIEF: The most amazing, friendly, lovely, caring staff. Your own private bay in paradise with the best sunrise views on the island from your hut hammocks. Lots of free things given/for use (not all that I can legally describe!). The tastiest food I had all trip. IN FULL: We stumbled upon the bungalows completely by mistake and if we hadn't have done I would have missed the nicest experience of Thailand that I had!!! They are set in their own private bay that can be explored by a fishing boat the owners will lend you free if they like you, and you can even paddle round to Tanote bay as we did for the day. We had the bungalows on the sea front(if you're a couple the owners grin knowingly and make them up extra nice for you!) but the 'older' ones were all being refurbished when we were there so should also be tiptop soon. And they were just so cheap! 200 baht pppn for the double beachfront and hammocked bungalows. When we were there there was only one other guest as people don't seem to explore further than the West side. So trust me, it is worth it!! Even worth the bike hire!! Just for the peace! The owners Am and Nam are the friendliest people you will ever meet, and they have three beautiful children aged from a few months to 8 years. They're keen they don't bother visitors, but we had so much fun making friends with them and playing games! Whenever we wanted to eat, Nam was on hand to cook the most impressive Thai food I had on my trip. It was like staying personally with a Thai family; Am took us traditional fishing with just nets and hooks in a little boat one evening, on a mini motorbike trek to places 'tourists don't know about' and to see the sun set another, and made us watch the most PERFECT sunrise from our beach-front hammocks one morning. All free of charge, and just to keep himself busy. We went for one night and stayed over a week. It was just the best! Do go!
