Description
The only setup on Laem Thian Bay's small, rough beach, Laem Thian Bungalows is a totally secluded place with affordable rooms for thrifty and mid-range travellers. The terrace restaurant at the beach's edge is a huge monstrosity of a structure that feels like a school cafeteria. However, you'll find a good selection of Thai and western cuisine at decent prices and some good views across the bay. The bungalows vary in size, quality and comfort level but most are in fair shape and provide spectacular views -- unfortunately, the unsightly restaurant is always in view as well. Snorkels (50B/day) are available at reception for those who wish to swim with resident turtles and black-tip reef sharks. Recommended for an inexpensive secluded getaway.

Super friendly staff and family atmosphere - lovely remote location - and hey - you're in the jungle - expect a few intruders! Regrettably my bungalow was right on the beach - which was fabulous on arrival, but the beach bar stays open until the last one wants to leave, so you'll need earplugs if you want to sleep any earlier than 2am. Bungalows could use a little love and care, but a far superior location to the trashy Sairee beach (and the water on this side of the island is much calmer in August/September - and cooler!).
BEWARE RATS! - IN AIR CON HUT -

Don't stay in the air con hut! On 2nd night, I was reading with my daughter on the bed and a rat ran our from behind our pillows!Met nice people on bumpy ride to Laem thian from main port. All had spent a few days there, and were happy with the basic accomodation - 400 baht @ fan room.
We had pre-booked the aircon bungalow for 1000 baht,but were disappointed with the stinking, damp smelling bedroom and exposed bathroom. The large bed was thankfully coverd with a moquito net, but the rank carpet and furnishings made us resolve to spend all our time at the small beach of Laem Thian.The door from bathroom to bedroom is 5'' too short. We worried that, because of lack of window screens in the bathroom, we would be inundated with mosquitos..2nd nt we failed to block this gap, and that's when we found the rat.Look -out for flimsy piece of plastic stapled to the bottom of door with a rat-shaped hole knawed in it!
