Long Island Resort
Shady and relaxed

What we say:
At this end of Lamai, the beach is reduced to mudflats at low tide, but Long Island has a pool and lovely massage sala that more than makes up for the poor swimming. The grounds are shade-cool and the rooms are clean and airy, with a couple of sticks of furniture on the terraces. The bathrooms are fair and some are pretty grotty, so ask to see another room before accepting what is offered. The staff are very friendly and it's a reasonable location, far away from the hubbub of Lamai central. The deluxe rooms are poolside and the superiors are in the garden. The bar and restaurant were featured in the UK Independent's Top 50 Bars in the World.
