Ko Samui is so big, we’ve split it up into areas, select one of the below for detailed accommodation and food listings in that area. Sights and general overviews for Ko Samui as a whole can be found via the icons above. Don’t know where to start? Read an overview of Ko Samui’s different areas.
You will find New Hut Bungalows just past Manathai on the sea side of the road if coming from Chaweng.
A sign on the road points you to walk over a small footbridge, where a stream empties into the sea (surprisingly, it didn’t smell, at least when we stopped by). You cannot miss the brightly coloured A-frame rows of bungalows, freshly painted like candy as part of a much-needed facelift in 2014. They are bunched closely together on the beach, so if privacy is your thing, these are not for you. The fan-cooled rooms are very basic, with just a bed on the floor – two singles or a double – with a mosquito net and a window, but they are cheap. A few rooms also have their own bathroom and air-con. The beachfront restaurant was busy when we were there, and there is also a shop and a free WiFi hotspot. The cheap rooms are worth it for the location but for the price of the air-con rooms you can do better elsewhere.
