Beer's House Beach Bungalows
Difficult to fault - a great budget option
161/4 Moo 4 Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
Surat Thani Province

Description
Beer's has excellent value beachside budget bungalows, which, while very close together are well appointed right on the beach. The well-shaded front row has good balconies with ample space for a hammock and the bungalows have firm mattresses, clean cold water bathrooms and (in the case of the front row) great beach views. The staff are friendly and chatty making Beers overall a great budget option. Beer's also has a comfortable, welcoming restaurant.

Beer's House is the resort we stayed at that we talk about, and recommend, the most to people since we've been back from a three month adventure in SE Asia. It was so idyllic, it matches the perfect 'beach bungalow' description.
I would recommend Beer's over and over again.

simple, ok but far from town - ![]()

Facilities are very simple (no hot water, bucket for toilet). Staff was freindly, food was ok. The bungalows are close to each other, and this might pose a problem if your neighbours are chatty or loud. Very far from town center, but the beach is as good as it gets in Lamai (grainy and shallow).
not bad - ![]()

THe bungalows were small but cute and on a semi-remote part of one of the most crowded islands. Nothing really spectacular, but easy for a short time--and a short time is all that should be spent in Samui. However next to Beers there are bungalows called the New Huts I think and you can get a bunglow right on the beach for a hundred baht less a night and the food there is much better and you can rent bikes from them.
Friendly but cramped - ![]()

Really friendly staff but the bungalows are very close together. Nice quiet section of beach, but the food was not great. Worth a couple of days if you are moving on, wouldn't want to settle there.

New Hut
Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
The long-running and misnamed New Hut is old but still great value. They have basic A-frame huts with share bathroom on offer and for the price you can't really complain even though the share bathrooms could do with a serious spruce up. This is a very popular traveller's haunt and in-season is... more
Lamai Resort
Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
Lamai Resort is in the process of replacing their older wooden bungalows with solid, pastel coloured concrete bungalows with air-con. The new bungalows are comfortable and well appointed right on the beach, with a second row going for lower rates. When we passed by in May 2006 just the one pastel... more
Rose Garden Bungalows
146/2 Moo 4 Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
Rose Garden has a mix of air-con and fan-cooled bungalows, both ageing though the air-con ones are faring a little better. The former are old-style wooden huts with linoleum covered floors, super-soft beds and grotty bathrooms, though at least they are close to the beach. The latter are ordinary,... more
Surat Palm Resort
Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
This small bungalow operation has a dozen or so wooden bungalows, all fan-cooled with shower. The smaller huts are a bit older, but particularly if you're travelling by yourself, they aren't bad value, though the bathrooms are pretty grimy. The larger beachfront huts are in better nick and are far... more
Wish Bungalow
Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
If Beer's next door is full, Wish is a reasonable second choice, with similar bungalows equally close together but a tad smaller than Beers. The restaurant isn't as welcoming but the family is particularly friendly and the views from the front row are excellent. While they're small, the huts have... more
No Name
Lamai Beach, Ko Samui
It can be a real pain to find the staff here, but the bungalows seem cute and comfortable, attracting a mix of Thai and farangs. Despite visiting three times, we weren't able to find someone who could tell us the price, nor show us a bungalow. But it does look good and is probably priced around... more
