The New Lamai Coconut Resort
An immaculate resort

What we say:
This immaculate resort has a stack of spacious bungalows, all with air-con and very clean hot water bathrooms. Wile most of the bungalows are not beachfront, they're angled in such a way that quite a few can at least see the water -- nevertheless the extra 200B for a beachfront hut is a good deal as the bungalows are otherwise identical. The beach here is stunning, though shade is limited - another reason to get a beachfront hut. Fan rooms are located towards the rear but compared to the aircon huts they're not great value. The beachfront also has a bunch of bamboo salas and a great shade tree -- rise early to stake out your territory there.

Warning
The prices listed are wrong. All bungalows cost 1500 Baht. Also, guest should be aware that during my morning run $80US was stolen from my wallet in my room. I was checking out the following day and had just counted all of my money so I am positive as to what I had. Went on a run, came back as maids were leaving. Checked my wallet that was in my pants in the closet (not in plain view) and $80 was gone! I informed the front desk, and they did nothing-didn't even speak to the maids. I have been going to this resort for 6 years-same staff, including maids, all know us and I have always left a tip. I have brought several people there with me on various occasions. However-NEVER again!

Lamai Coconut
We really enjoyed 'The Coconut', the staff were relaxed and the room was lovely even though it was off the beach. The staff were lovely and the grounds were always clean. Although Lamai was quiet there were always other folks around and the cabins full most nights. We felt safe and comfortable. The beach view was a little bit poor but we stayed during a rainy period so I think it would be a lot lovelier with some sunshine.
