Mae Nam Villa
Smart and friendly

What we say:
Mae Nam Villa has a range of bungalows set behind a substantial retaining wall. The newer pastel-coloured and spotlessly clean bungalows are decorated with a flourish and are very comfortable, with well designed stone-finished bathrooms. While there are some older and cheaper huts available, they're not such hot value, but remain adequate. This is a very friendly spot with a restaurant perched atop the wall overlooking the beach -- the sunsets from here are fantastic.

Nice spot, awkward staff
Maenam Villa has nice, roomy stone bungalows set around a pretty, relaxing, quiet garden at the east end of Maenam beach. However, after five months travelling I had my first unpleasant experience: after prebooking a triple room and agreeing a price including breakfast, only one double bed was provided (cosy!) but after persuasion, another bed was found and the following day we were charged extra for a third breakfast. Due to the unwelcoming nature of the staff and feeling we were an inconvienience we tried to arrange a taxi with the staff but the cost quoted was massively inflated, which unfortunately left us no option but to move on from this rather romantic, relaxing spot. Shame.
