• A Slice of Heaven

  We fell in love with Maenam Cheer. A chance find when stumbling along the beach from another hotel, the cute beachfront bungalows drew us in. Run by the fantastic Rat and family, we were made to feel so welcome we ended up coming back a second time. The bungalows are basic but clean and functional, the location is amazing and the views are out of this world. I wanted to stay forever. The restaurant is also extremely good, and very good value. If you're on a budget you must stay at Maenam Cheer - its a 5* setting at a 1* price. Maenam beach itself is tranquil and lovely, with some great restaurant choices. Perfect for a few days (or weeks) of rest on your travels. Also I should add that we paid 500B a night for a double room for the first few days, and negotiated 400B when we went back for 6 days. This is for a fan room - there are also ac rooms which I'm not sure of the price.

• Cheery Indeed

  Maenam Cheer made us very welcome (sending a free taxi to rescue us from accommodation up the road that we didnt feel too welcome in) and the bungalows are clean and comfortable with nice little verandas. With very close proximity to the beach and close to the restuarants and shops of Maenam, I would definitely recommend this spot.

• Great spot

  Well you cant get much closer to the water, with the waterline only metres away from your hut door, you just stumble out onto the nice uncrowded beach and into the water! The huts are as pictured, with only 2 huts there at the moment, they were finishing off the third while I was there. The huts themselves are very basic, but have a toilet and a shower. The water wasn't hot, but it didn't need to be. The mattress was quite 'well used' but it was good enough for me. If you can try to get the new hut! It has a great little beach front restaurant right next to the huts, where they can whip up a cocktail or great Thai meal for you at a very reasonable price. Rates for the rooms were only 500B! As for the location, Maenam is a good little spot away from the hustle of Chaweng and its higher prices. I found that the beach east of Maenam cheer not as nice as the beach outside Maenam cheer and too the west of it. The staff were very friendly, as were all the people I encountered on Samui. So if you're looking for a basic hut on a great part of the beach, Maenam cheer is the spot for you. I will be returning!
