Suan Inn Bungalows
Convenient and comfortable

What we say:
Mr Chai and his friendly family offer inexpensive and comfortable bungalows just outside the bustling centre of Thong Sala to the west. The well-kept bungalows, lining a shady coconut grove, are simple yet spacious and quite well-kept. A few minutes walk to the pier or the beach, Suan Inn is a welcome alternative to the impersonal hotels in central Thong Sala. While not offering all of the amenities, this place is much quieter and relaxed, and the price is far more reasonable. The family also has a nice little restaurant with delicious and cheap Thai food.

Suan Inn Overpriced Bungalows near Thongsala
Suan Inn charges 350Baht for a small bungalow with cold shower and a toilet that flushes with a bucket. We stayed there on 19/11/09 when Asia Hotel (our initial choice) remained staff-free all afternoon. The bungalow had a multichannel TV with BBC World and one or two other channels in English. It also had a healthy quantity of mosquitoes and pillows with all the charm of sacks filled with sand. The garden was attractively planted and the wifi from The Mason's Arms pub was just in range. If you need a bungalow within walking distance of the town, I would recommend staying at Ao Charu to the east of town. This pretty beach area offers more bang for your buck with bungalows with better equipped bathrooms including hot water at, for example, Phangan Villa for the same price.
