Koh Hai Fantasy Resort

Tacky and expensive

Koh Hai Fantasy Resort is a rather large and tacky resort that seems aimed at families. The resort has some attractive decorative elements -- Thai style stencilling on the beds, an appealing pool -- and far too many unattractive details -- like frightening neon-painted masks outside the mauve rooms. The restaurant is particularly unappealing -- a cordoned off-section is labelled the 'blue-lagoon bar', and has silhouettes of couples dancing painted on the purple walls. Whose fantasy is this? Certainly not ours -- if anything the place is a bit of a nightmare. They also operate the alarming 'chateau' resort at the far end of the beach. It was closed on our visit, but judging from the Angkorian archway and burgundy hotel blocks, we didn't miss much.

Koh Hai Fantasy Resort reviews

Highly Recommended - 29th November, 2006
I spent a wonderful 4 nights at this resort. I stayed in a fairly average room for 1800 / night but it was clean, comfortable and had air con from 4pm to 10 am. In addition the room was cleaned and the towels changed every day. This is the cheapest room available at the resort - there are a number of more luxurious bungalows available, with the prices climbing steadily. The staff were fantastic and very friendly – including the young trainees who were very hard triers. The food also is excellent with a wide range (especially recommended is the barbecued seafood selection) and very reasonably priced for the standard of resort. The grounds are kept in impeccable condition with the swimming pool area, in particular, beautifully landscaped. Transfers from/to Trang airport went smoothly and were performed with the efficient level of service that seemed to characterise all aspects of the operation of the resort. For those looking for an idyllic, peaceful escape from civilisation, while not wanting to go too feral, this place is great.

Great location - 1st December, 2005
I enjoyed my time here, not as luxurious as many hotels we stayed at but it has everything you need. Waking up every morning to that sea view from you room/terrace was worth a visit just for that. Only ate breakfast there and it was fine, plenty to choose from. Helpful staff etc A great place to chill for a few days. Great little local restaurant right next door.
