Koh Ngai Resort

Generic Resort

The Koh Ngai Resort has a secluded location in a small cove to the south of the main beach, yet they fail to make the most of it. The small space between beach and hillside is so packed with bungalows, villas, and buildings, that it feels much more crowded here than anywhere else on the island. Rooms come in a staggering variety of forms, with or without air-con in a large hotel block, in suites, in bungalows, in wooden Thai style villas -- yet for the most part, they're uninspiring, with minimal decor and tacky furniture. The beachfront villas are the lone standout, though you could find similarly attractive thatched rooms elsewhere, without the generic resort atmosphere. You could have a perfectly comfortable stay here, but if you've come all the way to Ko Ngai, why stay somewhere that feels like it could be anywhere else?
