Koh Sukorn Village
Cheap, basic huts near the village

What we say:
Set in a small yard near the village and mangroves on the island's east side, Koh Sukorn Village offers five basic bamboo bungalows with nothing but thin mat beds draped in mosquito nets, fans and front porches with hammocks. The cold-shower shared bathrooms are made of concrete and are also very basic, but adequate for those who are more of the roughing it type. A Thai restaurant on site is open only during high season, and staff are friendly though little English is spoken and they may be difficult to find at times. This is more of a "do it yourself" spot, perfect for someone looking for solitude or a quiet and simple place to read or practise meditation. It's far from the beaches on the west coast, but a short walk from the village and some of the more scenic areas of the island's east and north. Prices are highly negotiable, especially for longer stays.
