Koh Teng Hotel
Retro charm

What we say:
Occupying an alluring 1940s Chinese hotel, Koh Teng's lobby earns definite points for charm -- a long sweeping reception desk a smoky mirror above the stairs. Rooms come in two forms: twin rooms with two beds, and single rooms with one bed -- note that two people can share the single bed for that rate, though the bed is pretty tiny. While the lobby is inviting, the rooms are more cheap than charming, with aged furnishings, bare walls and tiny beds with tacky vinyl headboards. While looking around the room, we mistook the bed's threadbare comforter for a towel -- it was small and damp. Some of the rooms have cable TV, though even the most expensive air-con rooms have cold shower only -- brrr. Still, if you're looking in the dirt cheap price range, it's not bad value.

Enjoyed my stay
Enjoyed my 5 night stay here in Nov 2011. 280 baht gets you a clean basic room with cable TV and air con. Staff were laid back and friendly. Nice place to relax and preserve your budget.

cheap
While I was going to the southern islands (Ko Ngai, Ko Mook, Ko Kradan, Ko Tarutao, Ko Lipe, Ko Adang),I left my big backpack for free in the hotel. I got a big room with bathroom and fan for THB180. The hotel is cheap and looks cheap, and it´s walking distance to the train station.

one of my favorite thai-chinese hotels
although the corridor looks like an asylum, the rooms're refurbished in this century so they're relatively clean and the facility is quite good. they have a desk, a chair, a big mirror, a sofa and a table. the air-con works very good(you can set the temperature). the tv is cable and has countless channels(i could watch japanese programmes). the bathroom is very functional. there's no hot water, but this is not a big problem in trang. at this price, overall, it' very good value.
