Thumrin Hotel
Faded and overpriced

What we say:
Trang's midrange hotels occupy an unusual position. They're not that much more expensive than some of the town's guesthouses, and to be honest, they're not as comfortable. The Thumrin looms large and imposing near the train station, and appears to cater mainly to domestic tourists and business travellers. Rooms are far from modern, but they are clean and spacious and all come with air-con, cable TV, hot water showers and large windows. Deluxe rooms also include bathtubs and fridges. Staff were uniformed and professional, although not too friendly. With a sizable price increase since our last visit the Thumrin is best avoided unless you're deadset on feeling like a Thai businessperson.
