Most high-end option in town
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hotel, also known as HAGL Hotel Gia Lai, is the most high-end option in Pleiku.
Though this big and bland hotel is far from luxurious, it hits all the right notes for a city hotel in a far-flung destination and it has spacious rooms with a practical, functional design: bedside tables with lamps, a desk, flatscreen TV, minibar, kettle and a balcony with some chairs. The large bathroom is a granite beast. It features floor to ceiling granite, with a bathtub-shower combo and – you guessed it – a granite countertop. Rooms also come with air-con and WiFi. All the furniture is fine solid wood – you would expect no less for a hotel owned by HAGL, a conglomerate with billion dollar investments all over Indochina that had humble beginnings as a small furniture factory in Pleiku.
Included in their rate is a buffet breakfast with a surprising amount of choice. This is the best Pleiku has to offer and while it’s dated and impersonal, it’s very straightforward and comfortable.
The hotel is marooned 2.5 kilometres from the centre, wedged between two major roads. Thus, there’s nothing of interest immediately around the hotel and you’ll have to take a short taxi ride if you want a bite to eat.
