Phuong Hanh
Superb value, great rooms

What we say:
Phuong Hanh's new hotel represents one of the newest and best value hotels in Da Lat. For very reasonable prices, rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. The cream and peach colour paint job and the large French windows make for a light and airy atmosphere. Some rooms have balconies, all have phone, TV and refrigerator. Bathrooms have large tubs and are newly tiled in blue. The hotel also has a restaurant, coffee shop, tour agency and money exchange. It's just a few minutes' walk from the market. For a large group, the family room with four double beds at only US$20 serves well. This really is backpacker value masquerading as a mid-range hotel. Add two dollars for breakfast.

Lost clothes & pushy sales
Positives: Motorbike hire was great. Massive room for the price. Large windows, good fridge. Negatives: Tried to overcharge us. Very good motorbike hire. Not very helpful. High pressure sale for tours. WiFi was really bad. It was slow, the password they gave us would not work. Bathroom flooded everyday, they would not fix it. Rooms were not serviced, we had to ask for toilet paper and towels. Staff were pushy about booking their tours. Staff woke us up late at night to deliver our washing which could have waited till morning. They lost some of our clothes.

Pleasant Hotel
I had one of the big front rooms at the Phuong Hanh - very nice w/balcony. Those bathtubs are huge here. Only problem I had were the drafty windows - it was pretty windy when I was here about Nov 17th. I must say the staff here are a little unusual, but very nice. On checkout I was told the price, and I paid in cash. A few minutes later I was told a mistake of over 100,000VND was made and that I needed to pay more! I would stay here again. I also ate at Long Hoa up the street, as well as bought from the wonderful bakery across from Long Hoa.

Best Value in Viet Nam
I've made 3 trips to Viet Nam, spending more than 2 months in the country. My $10 room at Hotel Phuong Hanh was the single best value room I've had in Viet Nam. It was comfortably-sized, light, with big French windows, and furnished with dark-stained wood furniture. There was a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable, not the all-too-common hard as rock Vietnamese mattress. The TV didn't have a brilliant selection of channels, but this is Viet Nam, not Cambodia. Up the road is a good, very pretty restaurant called Long Hoa (thought it's definitely been discovered by the LP crowd.
