My Khe 1 Hotel
Bland and boxy
What we say: 
Like many of the old, government-run hotels in Vietnam, My Khe Hotel seems to have been made from the same set of blueprints -- perhaps left behind by the French as they fled the country. My Khe seems hardly to know that it's located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam: The bland, stale rooms seem more like an inner-city business hotel than a holiday getaway. The rooms are at least functional and clean, and if you can live without a pool, it's cheaper than staying at the Tourane to the north. For some reason, they've built two identical hotels in the neighbourhood -- named creatively as My Khe 2 and My Khe 3 -- though it's hard to see why they'd need more, since the parking lots of all three were deserted on our visit.
