This older, government-run, three star outfit is one of the few places fitting that description that still maintains its standing as a good mid-range deal. This huge hotel is right on the Han river, though many of the rooms are arranged around a courtyard in the back. These rooms are cheaper, but provide no river views. The decor here is a nod to the French colonial style with a Vietnamese twist -- we found the rooms homey and elegant, if a bit small, and surprisingly well-maintained. Luxury travellers may want to snap up one of their two presidential suites: this is actually where the president of Vietnam stays when he's in Da Nang. There's a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a cheerful, English-speaking staff.
