Description
This ambitious, if unassuming, little place has changed the accommodation scene in Da Nang by offering a variety of very cheap fan rooms, in a spot along Tran Phu. It's run by a Vietnamese 'returnee' named Raymond who spent most of his life in Canada. He speaks English, of course, and provides what the backpacker market wants: cheap rooms, information, and good service. The smallest rooms contain only a bed, but are brighter and airier than a lot of the prison cells we've seen in this price range. You can do no better than this if you're on a tight budget, so head straight here. They provide a wide range of tour services, including good deals on motorbike trips to Marble Mountain and Hoi An. They also rent DVD players for 0.60 USD per night, and movies for 0.20 USD per night, and provide cable TV for 0.60 USD per night. Be sure to call ahead in high season to snag one of their 20 rooms.

A Dump! -
By taz ( total comments: 6  More information please )
TF calls this place 'ambitious.' I am at a loss for what their meaning is. This building has probably been a hotel for a long, long time and used by Viets. It is rundown and a dump. Puke green walls help to give the building its lack of ambiance. The staff is so inept that, if you want to rent one of their run-down bicycles you have to go down the street and pay to have air put into the tires yourself! For 100K they offer a cubicle (a very small space with a 'wall' that doesnt go to the ceiling). Room was in disrepair, uncommon level of mosquito infestation. Worse of all is maybe the acoustics. In VN there are buildings along streets that somehow suck in all the ambient noise from the street; Minh Travel's building does this. I was awaken at 1am, 2am and then 5am by noise and honking from the street (and my room was not in the front). TF doesn't feel this is an example of a prison cell room, but I would argue that it is the 'poster boy' for prison cell rooms! Would I stay there again? Not even if you paid me.
