Description
This is decidedly unique, and slightly odd, spot located only about a kilometre from the summit of Ba Na Mountain, next to the big Buddha. When the French were here, they built a wine cellar into the side of the mountain, and one of the attractions is paying 20,000 dong to see it. The resort has a wide variety of rooms in an eclectic selection of buildings -- the simplest are in a concrete longhouse, while others are across a ravine and a bit more upscale. Everything here is slightly musty, but there's little they can do about it -- the mountain is cloaked in mist for half the year. Apparently the bar on premises is popular in the evenings, though we dearly hope none of the guests attempts the 16km motorbike ride down the mountain in the dark when they're done! There isn't much to do but hike around visiting the remains of the French Villas, so bring a book. They host tour groups that supposedly do a tribal dance around a bonfire and drink traditional can ricewine, but as far as we know, there aren't any actual tribal villages on the mountain. Still and all, it's bound to be a more memorable place than wherever it was you decided to stay in Mui Ne.

Ba Na Mountain
The Le Nim Resort hasn't been thriving as a travel destination in recent years, but an effort is underway to once again make the mountain a spot for foreigner visitors to spend part of their summer. We found many of the rooms here to be an excellent value for the price, given the unique location.... more
