Description
When we finished surveying the Dai Long, the very friendly hostess told us that she knew we'd be back, and it was easy to see why. This popular backpacker haunt has great value rooms if you're willing to spend US$10, as well as some reasonable options if you're wanting to spend a little less. The best rooms come with air-con, TV and fridge and are a very good size -- the cheapest are rather dim, though you could leave the door open. The Dai Long is a popular backpacker spot.

Gave it a shot:, will not return -

TF has the address confused; the correct number is 688 Hai Ba Trung. Nice rooms but long built up black dirt on walls. Major concerns: 1. Hotel is on HBT street which is a main north/south thoroughfare for the city. MANY honking vehicles, especially construction and logistics trucks 2. Across the street is a motorcycle frame and repair shop that makes a lot of noise. 3. The tour company next door uses the hotel's front door as a bus parking lot; at 0545 (in the morning) the bus started honking the horn alerting everyone that they had arrived. Would not return here.

Excellent! -

Very clean rooms, very friendly staff. Also free Internet. Lots of services available but no pushy sales.

We were in Hoi An during rainy season and the whole town was flooded. We were trapped in the hotel for 36 hours with no power, no food. But the staff sent a boat to get food and water for us and we weren't even charged. We really appreciated that hospitality and won't forget it.

Brilliant! -

Having backpacked around Cambodia and Vietnam I can not speak highly enough of Dai Long. Rooms great-beds on the very firm side-but good if your used to that-but it's the staff that take the cake. So friendly and helpful - without being pushy (very appreciated!). WEll worth every cent

Great Place -

Stayed there for 3 nights in double room including a/c, tv. great bathroom, actually one of the cleanest ones we had in Vietnam. Highly recommendable, helpful staff with decent english skills - quite central.

Fair prices! Example: 1,5 liter Water from the mini bar 5000 VND..., Internet in the lobby is free, bike and motocycle rental just across the street as well as several places to eat (breakfast is not included)

the Room was 11 US Dollars per night.

We enjoyed our stay!

A great deal -

I paid $10 for a good sized room (not much of a view, but a large window) with a king single and a double bed, minibar, satellite tv, AC, fan, wardrobe, desk and chair, hot water and private bathroom. The people are great, and while they do offer all of the usual tours etc, they don't do a hard sell. I definitely recommend this place. Also, some of the little restaurants over the road are great!

Best Place Two Feet Could Find -

We were not impressed with the options given to us by our open bus in Hoi An, so we went out on foot with this and few other places in mind. Finally we decided on Dai Long because it was the cleanest and had the friendliest staff. When we looked at the room and told the receptionist we had one more place to look at she said we would be back. She was right. No pressure relaxing atmosphere and we only paid 7 USD (no A/C, December).

Very swish! -

For $8 we had a huge room with a balcony (no air-con). The bed was a massive king size one too. The staff are friendly and it is well located for the centre of Hoi An. Great value for the money.

Nhi Trung
13 Hai Ba Trung St, Hoi An
The large air-con rooms here come with TV, fridge and balconies overlooking the road (for those who get in first). The Nhi Trung has upped its rates in recent years, making it not the great value it once was, but still the guesthouse remains a decent fall-back option if the Dai Long up the street... more

Phu Thinh 1 Hotel
144 Tran Phu St, Hoi An
This place earns marks for one reason only -- it's in a great location right in the old town, across the street from the Tam Tam Garden. That and the entrance gate suggest a charming old guesthouse lies on the other side -- but the rooms are some of the shoddiest in town. They're big, but... more

Thanh Binh 2 Hotel
Hai Ba Trung St, Hoi An
As with the other Thanh Binh Hotels, this is a very Chinese-style spot with heavy wooden furniture, super-low beds and an in-house tailor. For the money it's not bad value, particularly as you get to use the pool at the nearby Thanh Binh 3. If you're a non-swimmer, however, then other hotels in the... more

Minh A Guest House
02 Nguyen Tai Hoc, Hoi An
This is the only old merchant house that we know of that has been turned into a guesthouse, providing a very unique opportunity to actually sleep and eat in the kind of place that people usually take tours of. It's over 100 years old, and is in the same style as the other old houses in town --... more

An Phu Hotel
30 Nguyen Duy Hieu, Hoi An
This huge, ornate building looks like it could house more than its 62 rooms. It's a popular, bustling place -- we found the rooms to be okay value, given the proximity to the old town and it's not too terribly far from Cua Dai beach. The cheapest rooms don't have exterior windows and look a bit... more
