One of the better budget hotels
Not that you’d notice it from the dark Chinese-style reception, but the Thanh Binh 2 has had a spot of renovation work.
Gone are the super low beds, heavy orange-tinged furniture and dark accessories, and in their place are bright white characterful ensuite rooms with Victorian-style padded headboards, simple beach-style wardrobes and accessories that complement each other, rather unlike the mix and match look of earlier days. Floors have been revamped with large black and white tiles and the bathrooms spruced up to match. One of the ground floor superior rooms even has a standard bathtub in the bedroom, which is just a little bit odd. As of mid-2013 not every room had received the magical make-over, so do ask to see a few rooms before making your mind up. Facilities include free WiFi, an in-house tailor, breakfast room and use of the really odd pool at their sister hotel a few doors down (which is in need of a makeover to compete with the cheaper Thanh Binh 2). Standard rooms can be a little cramped, but others are bright and spacious. Deluxe rooms have balconies with table and chairs -- a pleasant addition even if they do only face onto the road. There are also two recently added family rooms, which sleep up to four people with a double and two single beds. They're likely to quickly come down on the rate a bit at least so don't accept first offer. Breakfast is included.
