Description
Set in what appear to have been styled on a series of massive grain bunkers, the Palm Garden Resort has made no attempt whatsoever to blend into the surrounding environment. While the facilities are four star, the rooms immaculate and the staff very professional, the rooms are ageing with unsightly rust streaks running off the verandas. Rooms are spacious with frosty air-con, and the upstairs rooms have splendid beach views. They have a large, pear-shaped pool here with a fountain and Jacuzzi built in, though it's not the biggest in the area. Staff mentioned the substantial beach frontage was private, but we didn't see them chasing off any backpackers while we were there. Rack rates are high -- we assume that few guests actually pay these rates -- so be sure to ask for a discount or look into their package deals which can be quite good value. The beachfront bungalows are very expensive for the standard.

Golden Sand Resort
Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An
The last of the beachfront five star mega-resorts (no doubt there are more on the way), the Golden Sand Resort boats a huge pool -- and we mean huge. They claim that it's one of the largest outdoor pools in Vietnam and we'd struggle to swim a single lap in it. The rooms are set in a series of... more

Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort
Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An
This place used to be falling apart, but a recent renovation has spruced it up a good bit. It's been fairly effective -- the rooms are now done up in a minimalist, Japanese style with clean lines and bright colours. The accommodation is split into two areas, with multiple-storey buildings at the... more

Hoi An Beach Resort
Cua Dai Beach, Hoi An
This large self-contained resort has spacious rooms set in two-storey bungalows -- each bungalow has four rooms -- dotted around its massive grounds. As with the Dong An nearby, despite its name, the Hoi An Beach Resort is not on the beach, but on a long stretch of the Hoai River. The rooms are... more
