Description
This huge, ornate building looks like it could house more than its 62 rooms. It's a popular, bustling place -- we found the rooms to be okay value, given the proximity to the old town and it's not too terribly far from Cua Dai beach. The cheapest rooms don't have exterior windows and look a bit stuffy, with heavy curtains and the like, but nicely done in hard woods, and the clean bathrooms all have tubs. There are some cheaper rooms on the first floor that do have external windows and balconies, so ask to see one of those. The staff here seemed to be on top of things, if a bit overworked.

Total rooms: 62

Superior - Double

Deluxe- Double

i found the staff here very friendly and helpful although the travel agency was not my first pick. i very much enjoyed the ornate building and its amenities. the second floor outward facing rooms are the best value. i would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Comfortable, big and anonymous.

The staff are really rude and unhelpful.

The pool looks great, but it's so full of chemicals that it's actually unpleasant to swim in (which is why it always empty despite the hot and sunny weather when I was there).

nice place - miserable staff -

The staff here are miserable because the manageress treats her staff appalingly. The manager informed us in a proud way that she docked the laundry girls wages when we didn't get our laundry back in the specified time. Isn't this a good enough reason not to stay here.

Dai Long Hotel
19 Hai Ba Trung St, Hoi An
When we finished surveying the Dai Long, the very friendly hostess told us that she knew we'd be back, and it was easy to see why. This popular backpacker haunt has great value rooms if you're willing to spend US$10, as well as some reasonable options if you're wanting to spend a little less. The... more

Nhi Trung
13 Hai Ba Trung St, Hoi An
The large air-con rooms here come with TV, fridge and balconies overlooking the road (for those who get in first). The Nhi Trung has upped its rates in recent years, making it not the great value it once was, but still the guesthouse remains a decent fall-back option if the Dai Long up the street... more

Phu Thinh 1 Hotel
144 Tran Phu St, Hoi An
This place earns marks for one reason only -- it's in a great location right in the old town, across the street from the Tam Tam Garden. That and the entrance gate suggest a charming old guesthouse lies on the other side -- but the rooms are some of the shoddiest in town. They're big, but... more

Thanh Binh 2 Hotel
Hai Ba Trung St, Hoi An
As with the other Thanh Binh Hotels, this is a very Chinese-style spot with heavy wooden furniture, super-low beds and an in-house tailor. For the money it's not bad value, particularly as you get to use the pool at the nearby Thanh Binh 3. If you're a non-swimmer, however, then other hotels in the... more

Minh A Guest House
02 Nguyen Tai Hoc, Hoi An
This is the only old merchant house that we know of that has been turned into a guesthouse, providing a very unique opportunity to actually sleep and eat in the kind of place that people usually take tours of. It's over 100 years old, and is in the same style as the other old houses in town --... more
