Hoa Binh Hotel
Pool in the lobby

What we say:
The words 'swimming pool' appear right under the hotel's name on their business cards, and if you walk into the lobby from the back entrance on Ba Trieu St, it'll be the first thing you see. Okay, it's a little odd — a pool indoors, basically in the lobby — but where else can you stay in this price range and have a pool? Additionally, the rooms are some of the smartest in the price range, though cheaper rooms are on the small side. Avoid the downstairs rooms, which are dark, and take one upstairs, where you'll be treated to bright rooms with basic wood furnishings, some with a small balcony. It's fairly simple, but it comes off as looking more smart and airy than basic. Breakfast isn't included but is available in the restaurant. Recommended.

Very good value
Maybe it was because of the low season, but we paid only 10$ for the triple bedroom with the balcony and air-cond (actually not usefull at that period), without breakfast. With the swimming pool downstairs I think it's very good value. The staff not specially friendly but they didn't push at all for booking anything

friendly and clean
moved here from crappy nhat huy hoang around the corner (shower broken, cold room and staff constantly trying to sell something and asking you were you are going). like it here, spacious lobby with free internet and wifi, helpful staff, of course they sell tours but dont bother you with that all the time. room is quite small (single) but nicely furnished, fridge, tv, ac, fan, hot shower, everything very clean for 12$. room faces ''pool-patio'' and is a bit loud sometimes, guess they have better options, too. breakfast not included but available and good.

Nice hotel, shame about the guests
Stayed for 6 days. Room clean, spacious and excellently priced. Location good; just a few minutes walk from Old Town. Cons included internet outtage (no access for the majority of our time there, all 8 terminals taken when active), small ant infestation in our room. Main problem was with other guests. Almost without fail we were woken at 1 or 2am by returning guests arguing with moto drivers or generally being loud. Worse occurance involved 3 British guys sitting outside hotel at 3.30am, singing, screaming and loudly discussing exactly what they hate most about the Vietnamese for an hour or more. For reference, we are an easy-going mid-20's British couple, but the noise was sometimes completely out of line. If possible, ask for a room off the street.
