Description
While the Aliha is a better hotel, the imaginatively named Travel Guest House is a good alternative, especially in terms of piece and quiet. The rooms are older and not quite as smart, but decent -- you'll get air-con for a good price here, and all the rooms have TVs and hot-water baths. They're arranged motel-style around a courtyard and the location on the edge of a hill makes for a more bucolic setting. There's also an old lodge left over from the French colonial period that is being fixed up as a restaurant, and what looks to be a man-made bathing area from the same era. To get here, pass the A Luoi Market and continue about 500 metres. The access road is across from the post office, and there's a sign.

No complaints about the staff here either -- eager to please, and delighted by foreign guests. One small complaint -- the cafe in the lobby is the... more
