The Phung Hoang 2 is a popular favourite, and we're happy to report they are still living up to their good reputation. We found the staff welcoming and helpful -- they have two restaurants in the hotel, and the lobby was well-equipped to accommodate international travellers, with free internet for guests (15,000 dong per hour for non-guests) and a booth for overseas phone calls (US$2 per minute. Ouch!) We found very spacious, clean and well-maintained rooms here, with big windows and high ceilings. The 2-room VIP suites are bright and cheerful, with rattan living room sets and big spa tubs in the bathroom. The cheapest rooms, though, lack an exterior window -- they aren't too bad, but for the price we'd head to the Hanoi 2. Otherwise, they offer some of the best rooms in town for the money. All rooms have air-con and breakfast is included.
