Hoang Huong Guest House
Best budget spot on budget alley
What we say:
This friendly place is run by a mother and daughter (the hotel is named after Mom) who speak English well and do an exceptional job keeping the joint humming. Even though it's a budget guesthouse, they go all out to attend to the needs of those staying here, and they're incredibly scrupulous about never over-charging for anything, even if it's just a bottle of water. The dorm rooms are just large rooms with three or four beds which, depending on the season, you might have to share with others, but it's still the same price even if you're the only one staying in the room. All rooms are fan only, the doubles are clean and basic -- one minor drawback: the window opening to the hallways impinge on your privacy a bit, but all told this is probably the best all-around budget spot on Sidestreet 66. This should be the quietest spot on the street while its being plagued with construction noise through February, 2008.
