Gia Long
Go for it!

What we say:
Like its neighbour, the Hoan Thien, we were impressed with the interiors here, which are well-maintained and attractive. It's a toss up as to which place to stay, but the Gia Long does offer fan only options that will save you money on a room just about as good, and it also has some suites that are a good value. All the rooms have cable TV, fridge, tubs, well-designed, tile bathrooms, some balconies, and are just generally airy, cool, and pleasant. Some of the upper rooms even have views. We say, go for it.

Not quite like this review
We were only here for a few hours. The rooms are rather dirty, but with air-con and TV you can't beat the price so we stayed. Then, as seems to happen every day in Hue, there was a power outage. It seems that every other morning and evening a power outage occurs. For not much more money many other hotels have generators.

Very Short Stay
After a night at the Thanh Duc Hotel I moved over here. Staff was super and room cute; much nicer location that over on the north bank. Was shown the rooms; had to negotiate but got the price that TF notes after I agreed to stay for multiple days. Unfortunately, 90 minutes later I was put out on the street: A Viet man stated that the front desk staff doesn't have the authority to rent the rooms. The situation didn't go well and I was not happy at all about being put out into the hot afternoon sun to search for another room. I was so angry about the situation and how it was handled that I completely forgot to check out the Hoan Tien just next door. Would I return to the Gia Long? No
