Low on charm, but high on cleanliness

One of the flasher offerings on Ma May St, the Hong Ngoc is a two-star hotel, low on charm, but high on cleanliness and functionality. It has very well-sized rooms both at the rear (without balcony) and out front (with a small balcony). The front rooms have splendidly awful art opposite the bed, but are otherwise well- decorated and all rooms and bathrooms are spotless throughout. The hotel also has an elevator. The cheapest rooms have no windows and are very poor value. Rates include breakfast.

Hong Ngoc Hotel, Ma May St reviews

Good Place - 6th February, 2010
If the place had an elevator, I would say it was a great place - but it did not. My spacious room was on the 4th floor -- which is really the 6th floor. So if I forgot anything, it was up the stairs I went. I am 60 but in good shape but after a few times it became tiresome. Breakfast was served on a balcony over-looking the busy street -- a great vantage point. The food was fine -- veggie omelet and a bagette. Coffee and tea was also served. My room was lovely and the showers were just perfect. If I could have a room on a lower floor, I would not hesitate in using this guest house again. I think I paid $22-- per night. I also got picked up from the airport for $12.00. A great service because my flight arrived late at night.

Loved this hotel - 1st February, 2010
I do not know how much it cost as it was part of my tour package. I had a windowless huge room on the second floor. It had everything I needed, shower, phone, tv, safe deposit box. Light came into the room a through a shaft that ran up the back of the building. The ac worked perfectly. They offered me a room with a window, but it was tiny. My room had a huge double bed, and a single bed -- giving me space to scatter all my belongings. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They never once tried to sell me a tour. The break was the standard tourist far but I never ate there as there was delicous pho shop a few doors away. I had briught my laptop with me and there was a internet cable in my room. I plugged it in and hey presto high speed access. he hotel os in the middle of the action, close to bars and restaurants. I will stay there again when I return later this year.
