Built in 1926, and originally operating under the name La Splendide, the Hoa Binh was extensively renovated in 1998 but the result is well short of splendour. The renovation wiped out much of the hotel's history, with the exception of an impressive wooden staircase climbing up the centre of the building. The superior rooms are a bit on the small side, though the deluxe rooms have fair-sized bathrooms. The rooms are comfortable, but the decor and bedding is a little on the dowdy side, and the carpeted floors can be smelly. All rooms are air-con with hot water bathrooms, TV and complimentary daily newspapers. Breakfast is included in all rates.
