Prince II Hotel

Excellent value, in-room WiFi

The Prince II Hotel looks like just another mini-hotel from outside, but for the money, the upper-floor rooms are excellent value. Rooms come with complimentary WiFi broadband access, so travellers with laptops will really see the extra value in staying here and with desks looking out over the many tiled roofs of the Old Quarter, this is a very comfortable place to work. Rooms are not huge, though they're crammed with a forest-worth of ornate, heavy wooden furniture. Mod-cons include cable TV, air-con and fridge. A good central location, with helpful and courteous staff. Recommended.

Don't trust them, the service is terrible! - 24th March, 2006
After searching Hanoi for a decent room for my sister-in-law who was coming to stay, we settled on the Prince II and paid in advance for the room. We had written confirmation of payment and that my sister-in-law would be arriving at 9pm, but despite this on arrival at the hotel the evening of the booking we were told that the room had been given out and the hotel was full. After an extended debate (the staff were smirking and very unhelpful) they returned our money and we were left to find another room late at night. In the end my poor sister-in-law had to share our room for the night!! I found the staff intimidating, juvenile and extremely unprofessional, do not stay here! The Van Xuan II just a few doors down is much much better, the staff are lovely there!

Boutique hotel at a 2-star price - 14th February, 2010
I'm currently staying here at the Prince II, about half way into a 2-week stay in Hanoi, and I can't recommend the place highly enough. The only downside, for some people, is there is no elevator and so you'll be climbing between one and six flights of stairs to your room. It's a beautiful marble staircase though. I'm working with a laptop while traveling so the best feature of this place is its lightning-fast wifi in the rooms. Oh, and there's actually a PC in the room as well, but I haven't used it since I have my laptop. I originally booked another hotel and after 2 nights of the internet not working at all, I came to this place. Aside from the elevator thing, this place feels like a 4-star boutique hotel, with high quality furniture and details everywhere you look. Breakfast is good and I've found the service to be great. Rooms are small though, and the ''standard'' ones have a view of a courtyard and not much sun. They do book tours and such here, but no one ever pitched me any of it so it's nice to not have to dread going in or out. I actually did have them book my train ticket to Lao Cai/Sapa for last week and that went well. The Prince II is in a crowded part of the Old Quarter, but at least it's off in a corner so it feels a bit more mellow. It's one short block from Bia Hoi Corner as well, with plenty of eating and drinking options in all price ranges within a very short walk.

Good rooms - 16th December, 2009
Rooms were nice, with AC, hot water, TV, Internet and rather clean. Breakfest incuded and good. The only minor complaint was the taxi service to the airport arranged (and paid in advance!) at the hotel - upon arrival to the airport driver tried to play the usul tricks - first he asked to pay one more time, and when shown a receipt demanded 'a tip', but was left with nothing
