Description
Behind their original building, Mr Tuc built a new one in 2004 and filled it with some very spacious and clean rooms, the best of which have small balconies. They now have a total of 20 rooms spread across the old and new buildings, with those in the new building well worth the extra money. The food at the in-house restaurant is delicious. This hotel is a stopover for the Open Tours heading south (they generally drop in at around 21:00). Both German and English are spoken along with a full range of tour services. They also have 15 bicycles for rent.

stayed here a month ago!! food ok,the staff could smile a little more often,and they charge all sorts of rates! in my opinnion dont stay here!!!!!

We stayed in a room in the new section of the Thanthuy which felt to us like a home away from home. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, not huge but big enough for our needs, we also had a lovely balcony overlooking the communal courtyard below. Ha the young receptionist was a smiling helpful lad and a great cook to boot. The food in the hotel was outstanding and they even opened the kitchen and cooked for us at 10pm one night when we were feeling peckish. Internet was supposed to be free for the 1st half hour then chargeable after that but when we checked out they didn't charge us a single dong (we'd used it quite a lot but admit it was really slow). We hired a bike and the staff gave us a hand drawn map to get to Tam Coc and the temples via the backroads, it was stunning in the Ninh Binh area, I don't understand why so many people miss it out of their trip it was one of my favourite places and the Thanthuy a favourite hotel which I would definitely use again.

Best Hotel for the price during our stay in Vietnam. Spotlessly clean comfort for 17 $. Although the overall food quality in Vietnam is lousy (IMO) in comparison to say ... Thailand, the Thahn Thuy's an exception -- they've a good kitchen here.
The boss of the hotel gave us a fabulous tip in viewing the surrounding beauty of Ninh Binh, Tam Coc and other sites that are impossible to find out yourself ... for US$10$ per person she arranged for us a tour on the back of a motorcycle, with excellent, experienced and careful drivers. They showed us this wonderland in a great way. This hotel alone, would tempt me into staying (much) longer in Ninh BInh, an overall very charming town ... if you've got an eye for it!
