Description
This place is located on the short chunk of street that connects Vuon Dao and Anh Dao. It's worth pointing out because, like the Peace Hotel, it has internet in the lobby -- here it is free to guests (when it's working). Also, the corner location means the building is not a tall rectangular block like the others -- it's full of little halls and stairways at odd angles and has a lot of character. Some of the rooms we saw had really stinky bathrooms, but others were fresh as a spring breeze, so be sure to ask to see more than one room. A good place if you're travelling with a group of friends -- unlike the other hotels, there are four or five rooms on the same floor.

Van Nam Hotel
31 Vuon Dao St, Bai Chay
There isn't much to distinguish the Van Nam from it's neighbours, but it's one place that tends to do well even in the off season. The staff are very congenial, though little English is spoken. As good a place as any, maybe a tad better for the... more

Hoang Ha Hotel
22 Vuon Dao St, Bai Chay
The rooms are pretty much exactly the same as elsewhere, but for some reason they are offering them at dirt cheap prices. We're not entirely sure we believe them -- check it out for yourself and see if you really get these kinds of... more

Thuy Duong Hotel
20 Ha Long Rd, Bai Chay
This place stands out from the pack on Hotel Alley because -- it isn't. It's on Ha Long Road a little East of Vuon Dao Street. It's pretty much the only true mini-hotel that has strayed so far from the herd, though the prices are a little higher than what you'd pay on The Alley proper. It's a... more

Mai Hoa Hotel
8 Anh Dao St, Bai Chay
The Mai Hoa is located on Anh Dao, a bit away from the other hotels -- not close to much of anything, really. Maybe that's why the prices are a bit lower, too. Also, we found the manager, Hieu, very helpful -- he speaks English pretty well and seems more eager to please than to make a quick buck.... more

Holiday Hotel
81 Vuon Dao St, Bai Chay
This place distinguishes itself with its friendly, conscientious staff and good proximity to the Asia Restaurant, which is where a lot of people head for their meals anyway. Also, they have some rooms with three beds that can sleep groups of up to 4 or 5. Otherwise, expect the same as elsewhere --... more
