Description
The cavernous lobby of this place is quite impressive, if a bit impersonal. We also found some of the staff a bit clueless. There's nothing much wrong with the rooms, but they are really just decent, hotel-style accommodation, and ultimately well-over-priced. But the views of the bay from some of the rooms are spectacular. Prices include all applicable taxes and surcharges, as well as complimentary breakfast.

Heritage Halong Hotel
88 Ha Long Rd, Bai Chay
As four-star hotels go, this place is pretty non-descript and unexceptional. We found everything clean and sweet-smelling, but otherwise disappointing. The 'superior' rooms (ie., standards) have small bathrooms with no tubs, and the windows provided no views -- not what you'd expect in this price... more
Halong Pearl Hotel
Ha Long Rd, Bai Chay
The Ha Long Pearl is really a two-star hotel, but unfortunately it's masquerading as a four-star hotel. There's a long-history of people checking in here and getting very angry with their travel agent, which should tell you something about the quality of the rooms. Nothing terrible, just too... more
