Thuan Loi Hotel
first off the boat

What we say:
If you're arriving on the speedboat from Phnom Penh, chances are you'll be dropped at the waterfront restaurant of this hotel. Being the only riverfront hotel in town aside from the Victoria, if you want to watch the river scene from your room on a budget, this is your only real option. The air-con rooms are medium-sized with clean, hot-water bathrooms, but the fan rooms are rather stuffy, run down and noisy. The main asset here are the terraces overlooking the river, which are great for people watching. Friendly staff, with English spoken.

Splendid Riverview
We were very happy with this place (although we didn't see many alternatives - Victoria wasn't our class). The waterfront restaurant was a great place to watch the river life - we ended up mostly eating there just because of this view that is nowhere else to be found. Very much recommended. Staff in the restaurant could be a bit more motivated though - the young lady didn't really seem to like her job.

Convenience, sort of, but nothing else
This place is a hike from the bus station, making it less convenient than you might think...it is the pick up point for boats to Cambodia, but I really don't think its worth the convenience of that... We only stayed for one short night en route to Phnom Penh, but the service was no good, the food was also subpar, and in general I felt like the place was catering to drunk locals more than travelers... The bed was rock hard (even by Vietnamese standards), there was A/C but it sounded like a truck engine and we couldn't leave it on...the walls are super thin, which we became especially aware of as the previously mentioned drunk locals went through the halls knocking on everyone's door and shouting... Really, try to find somewhere else
