Vinh Phuoc Hotel & Restaurant

Popular traveller cafe on ground floor

The long-running Vinh Phuoc has a popular travel agent and traveller cafe on the ground floor. The rooms are a little worn and overpriced but it is nevertheless a reasonable choice if you're after a basic fan room. If you're keen on air-con, the Trung Nguyen down the road is far better value. The verandas are shared between two rooms, so make sure you keep the door locked if you don't know your neighbours. The higher you go, the quieter the room gets.

Vinh Phuoc Hotel & Restaurant reviews

Rundown - 9th February, 2008
All rooms have doors with frosted glass - see-through! There were cockroaches on the restaurant floor on their way to the kitchen. Don't pay more than US$6 for a fan room!

Fine - 2nd February, 2008
We just stayed here one night and for one night, it was fine. It was cheap (US$6 for fan double) and reasonably clean for the price, but also pretty rundown. I wouldn't really recommend it. FYI, if you're leaving Chau Doc by bus, you'll save some money on the ticket by just showing up at the bus station, rather than buying a ticket through a travel agent.

Ok - 26th February, 2007
We stayed here as a stop between Cambodia and Phu Quoc Island. It was reasonably priced, and the rooms were fine.

Good enough - 7th December, 2006
Vinh Phuoc was an okay place to stay. It is getting a bit rundown and dirty, but the hot water in our room was great. We also found an unsecured wireless connection. Great for moving on to other parts Vietnam as there is a boatload of travel info in the main lobby. There are much better restaurants than the one downstairs.
