Description
Better than clean, the new Trung Nguyen Hotel is a sparkling addition to Chau Doc, with friendly staff that liven up an otherwise soulless lobby that doubles as a Western Union office. The rooms have good views of the market and the balconies are ideal for people watching. The rooms, while a little on the small side, are tastefully presented with faux-Ikea furniture and Vietnamese art on the walls. Bathrooms are spotless with hot showers. At these prices, the hotel is an absolute steal. Recommended.

Super hotel -

This is one of the best deals in Vietnam! The rooms are small-ish, but bright and comfortable, and spotlessly clean.

I think all the rooms have balconies - ours was almost a terrace, with a great view of the town.

The staff are really friendly and helpful - they can't do enough to help you out.

There's even free wi-fi if you have a laptop.

Very cheap, too!

I'd be very surprised if there's a better value place to stay in Chau Doc

I'm really surprised at jimaloha's comments. We found this hotel to be one of the best values in all of Vietnam. Our room was clean, full of amenities, and ideally located centrally. The staff was extremely helpful and even directed up to the trasu bird sanctuary which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. (By the way, the bird forest is NOT in the lonely planet and therefore blissfully quiet and UNtouristy). The only reason why I'm rating it 8/10 is because we didn't get a free breakfast!!

Guesthouse Number 6
6 Phan Van Vang St, Chau Doc
This newest addition to Chau Doc's accommodation offerings has been painted an incredibly bright blue throughout: floors, walls and ceilings have all been daubed. Watch your head as you climb the narrow and tight staircase that winds up through Number 6's many floors. The rooms are standard fare,... more

Thuan Loi Hotel
18 Tran Hung Dao St, Chau Doc
If you're arriving on the speedboat from Phnom Penh, chances are you'll be dropped at the waterfront restaurant of this hotel. Being the only riverfront hotel in town aside from the Victoria, if you want to watch the river scene from your room on a budget, this is your only real option. The air-con... more

Hang Chau 2 Hotel
10 Nguyen Van Thoai St, Chau Doc
This popular traveller guesthouse has affordable rooms, but newer options are now in town. The room we were shown was stale and stuffy, though the ashtray with six million butts in it may have contributed to the atmosphere. The mattresses are super-soft and the warm-water bathrooms aged but fairly... more

Vinh Phuoc Hotel & Restaurant
12-14 Quang Trung St, Chau Doc
The long-running Vinh Phuoc has a popular travel agent and traveller cafe on the ground floor. The rooms are a little worn and overpriced but it is nevertheless a reasonable choice if you're after a basic fan room. If you're keen on air-con, the Trung Nguyen down the road is far better value. The... more

Hoa Hung Motel
5 Quang Trung St, Chau Doc
While mainly aimed at Asian tourists and travelling businessmen, the Hoa Hung is a friendly spot with rather kitsch but clean rooms and a popular cafe on the ground floor. While not worth putting at the top of your list, if you're looking for a comfortable hotel off the tourist trail, you could do... more

Tai Ngan Hotel
11 Nguyen Huu Canh St, Chau Doc
Set next door to the almost classy Song Sao Hotel, the Tai Ngan is a passable budget option with basic but clean rooms. The mattresses are super bouncy but the bathrooms are grimy. For the money, it isn't too bad. A little bit of Engish is spoken and there is a money changing office next door. If... more
