Trung Nguyen Hotel
An absolute steal

What we say:
Better than clean, the new Trung Nguyen Hotel is a sparkling addition to Chau Doc, with friendly staff that liven up an otherwise soulless lobby that doubles as a Western Union office. The rooms have good views of the market and the balconies are ideal for people watching. The rooms, while a little on the small side, are tastefully presented with faux-Ikea furniture and Vietnamese art on the walls. Bathrooms are spotless with hot showers. At these prices, the hotel is an absolute steal. Recommended.

Very good choice.
Highly recommended! Easy to find, bright and clean, courteous and helpful staff, nice cozy rooms. Not particularly atmospheric, but good for your creature comforts. Like most anyplace in Chau Doc, the honking of moto horns is unavoidable--if it's an issue for you, try getting a room on a higher floor (though the lack of an elevator might prove trying for some). Bikes and motos for borrowing at dirt cheap prices as usual in such establishments. If you don't like being put on a minibus, then make sure to tell the staff that you require a large tourist bus if you ask them to help you book onward passage. We were also offered a simple but free breakfast.

What an incredible value!
This hotel has to be the best deal going in Vietnam. The staff is incredibly helpful and go out of their way to take care of you. The rooms are a little small, but at $15/night who cares? The balcony looks right over the main market, there is free WiFi, TV if you want it, clean rooms & bathrooms, and breakfast is included. The staff will help you with your transfer to Cambodia, has bikes to rent for $1/day, has a very helpful map available to all guests, and is just downright a pleasant place to stay for a couple of days. Highly recommended & a fantastic suggestion, thanks!

Excellent view and location for the price
The reviews of this hotel are right on, except the beds are way more comfortable than the Ikea-style ones in most cheap places. Rooms are definitely small, but each has a big private balcony overlooking an open-air section of the main market. There isn't really much to do in this city other than the standard floating market thing and maybe a quick trip up Sam Mountain, so having a big balcony that allows you to observe the town and market is a major plus. The corner rooms (103, 203, 303, 403) are smallest but have by far the best balconies. And the people who work the front desk speak fluent English, which is a nice surprise in a town with so few foreign visitors.

Great location and friendly staff
Agree with all of the above, the place is great value for money, the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, and the location is fantastic, right across te road from the market. Only suggestion would be to make sure you order breakfast in advance if you're heading off early in the morning. We ordered the night before, and our food didn't turn up until 40 mins after we'd ordered it for (they make it at the market across the road and bring it over) so no time to eat it before we left. No biggie, as it's still great value for money, clean and comfortable.

Clean comfort in perfect location
Right across from the market, extremely clean. Rooms are small buy very comfortable. Staff very eager to please and speak good English. A good choice in Chau Doc. Paid $13 for double aircon.

great hotel
This was a very nice hotel located in the center of town, across from the amazing central market. Rooms were clean with balconies over looking the square. The woman who worked the desk was awesome. We were there 3 nights and she was very helpful. They have a cafe on the first floor where we had breakfast and watched the insanity outside through their nice big windows.

Best value in SEA!
This hotel was absolutely amazing value. Our double room was well appointed for this price range, with a balcony overlooking the market, cable tv, and a spotless bathroom. Free WiFi was provided in the lobby and breakfast was included. Staff was very friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommended.

Great little hotel - Wonderful Staff
Great little hotel. Called and made a reservation, showed up with no problems. Room was small, but very clean and with great little balcony looking over the central market. Occasionally noisy due to music shops (?) blasting speakers, but obviously not hotel's fault. Good location to walk about. Breakfast is included (excellent ice coffee!). The staff are outstanding, friendly, helpful, and nice to chat with. There is free wifi, but was extremely slow most of the time. Very recommended. Price Update: Double, ac, priv bath is now $13, but as mentioned, breakfast is included.

very nice hotel!
After having problems with rats in our room in Hoa Hung Motel we went looking for another one in town at 10pm. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and bright. Excellent value for money!

Super hotel
This is one of the best deals in Vietnam! The rooms are small-ish, but bright and comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I think all the rooms have balconies - ours was almost a terrace, with a great view of the town. The staff are really friendly and helpful - they can't do enough to help you out. There's even free wi-fi if you have a laptop. Very cheap, too! I'd be very surprised if there's a better value place to stay in Chau Doc

Fantastic
I'm really surprised at jimaloha's comments. We found this hotel to be one of the best values in all of Vietnam. Our room was clean, full of amenities, and ideally located centrally. The staff was extremely helpful and even directed up to the trasu bird sanctuary which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. (By the way, the bird forest is NOT in the lonely planet and therefore blissfully quiet and UNtouristy). The only reason why I'm rating it 8/10 is because we didn't get a free breakfast!!
