Trung Nguyen Hotel

An absolute steal

Better than clean, the new Trung Nguyen Hotel is a sparkling addition to Chau Doc, with friendly staff that liven up an otherwise soulless lobby that doubles as a Western Union office. The rooms have good views of the market and the balconies are ideal for people watching. The rooms, while a little on the small side, are tastefully presented with faux-Ikea furniture and Vietnamese art on the walls. Bathrooms are spotless with hot showers. At these prices, the hotel is an absolute steal. Recommended.

Clean comfort in perfect location - 25th January, 2010
Right across from the market, extremely clean. Rooms are small buy very comfortable. Staff very eager to please and speak good English. A good choice in Chau Doc. Paid $13 for double aircon.

Super hotel - 5th November, 2007
This is one of the best deals in Vietnam! The rooms are small-ish, but bright and comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I think all the rooms have balconies - ours was almost a terrace, with a great view of the town. The staff are really friendly and helpful - they can't do enough to help you out. There's even free wi-fi if you have a laptop. Very cheap, too! I'd be very surprised if there's a better value place to stay in Chau Doc

Fantastic - 17th March, 2007
I'm really surprised at jimaloha's comments. We found this hotel to be one of the best values in all of Vietnam. Our room was clean, full of amenities, and ideally located centrally. The staff was extremely helpful and even directed up to the trasu bird sanctuary which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. (By the way, the bird forest is NOT in the lonely planet and therefore blissfully quiet and UNtouristy). The only reason why I'm rating it 8/10 is because we didn't get a free breakfast!!

Great location and friendly staff - 4th March, 2010
Agree with all of the above, the place is great value for money, the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, and the location is fantastic, right across te road from the market. Only suggestion would be to make sure you order breakfast in advance if you're heading off early in the morning. We ordered the night before, and our food didn't turn up until 40 mins after we'd ordered it for (they make it at the market across the road and bring it over) so no time to eat it before we left. No biggie, as it's still great value for money, clean and comfortable.

great hotel - 13th December, 2009
This was a very nice hotel located in the center of town, across from the amazing central market. Rooms were clean with balconies over looking the square. The woman who worked the desk was awesome. We were there 3 nights and she was very helpful. They have a cafe on the first floor where we had breakfast and watched the insanity outside through their nice big windows.

Best value in SEA! - 29th April, 2009
This hotel was absolutely amazing value. Our double room was well appointed for this price range, with a balcony overlooking the market, cable tv, and a spotless bathroom. Free WiFi was provided in the lobby and breakfast was included. Staff was very friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommended.

Great little hotel - Wonderful Staff - 3rd September, 2008
Great little hotel. Called and made a reservation, showed up with no problems. Room was small, but very clean and with great little balcony looking over the central market. Occasionally noisy due to music shops (?) blasting speakers, but obviously not hotel's fault. Good location to walk about. Breakfast is included (excellent ice coffee!). The staff are outstanding, friendly, helpful, and nice to chat with. There is free wifi, but was extremely slow most of the time. Very recommended. Price Update: Double, ac, priv bath is now $13, but as mentioned, breakfast is included.

very nice hotel! - 29th July, 2008
After having problems with rats in our room in Hoa Hung Motel we went looking for another one in town at 10pm. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and bright. Excellent value for money!
