What we say: 
Hai Van Hotel has two wings, offering a wide range of comfortable rooms. The new wing has an attractive lobby, a lift, and five floors of large, comfortable rooms -- though when compared with elsewhere in town, they're not great value. The older wing is more worth your attention, as it offers some of Ha Tien's best (and only) budget options. Small fan rooms with cold water showers are the cheapest in town, and while they're not attractive, they're clean and functional. The larger air-con rooms are also good value, as they have big windows and hot showers. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the riverfront, in a very quiet residential neighbourhood. Recommended.

Nice budget option
We stayed here for just one night on our way into Vietnam from Cambodia. We were quoted 100,000 for a fan room (smallish and a bit dark) or 150,000 for air-con. The temperature was hot and the price was decent so we went with air con. The room was quite large (two queen beds) and bright with two windows. There was also a small fridge and free WiFi was available in the room. This is decidedly not a tourist town and, being our first day in a new country, the fact that we found no one with more than a 3 word grasp of English made communication difficult. But because of that it feels very authentic and we might have preferred spending another night here rather than moving on. Compared to Cambodia the town is sparkingly clean and the hotel is just a couple blocks from the surprisingly nice waterfront.
