Description
Opened in 2000, for a long time the Saigon Phu Quoc Resort was the flashest digs on the island. With its kidney-shaped pool, lush gardens and quite smart rooms, this is still a great option -- especially for those who are most comfortable in a resort-style environment -- but if you can happily do without a pool, then we'd say either Bo or Mango Bay are fine, and far more charming, imaginative options. The clientele includes a steady stream of Vietnamese and Saigon-based weekenders along with other international tourists. Their cheapest rooms are towards the rear on the compound in a hotel building, and are adequate, while the bungalows are in better condition butconsiderably more expensive. Be sure to check for online rates as the walk-in rates are well-inflated.

While Cassia Cottage was closed for low season when we passed through, some workers were kind enough to show us around the grounds, and this looks to be a pretty impressive affair. Rates are not low, but the rooms looked to be pretty large, and the setting was very impressive with a lovely deep... more
