Thai Tan Tien
Not quite the Beach Club

What we say:
The Beach Club must be doing something well -- they've got an imitator next door. Though not as blatant as the kind of imitations that spring up around tourist towns -- this one didn't try to steal the name -- it seems as if they got hold of Beach Club's blueprints, and built nearly identical thatched cottages. Of course, maybe they couldn't steal the name, since they're not exactly on the beach. Instead, they're set a fair distance back from it, behind a marshy swamp. Rooms are simple and no frills, but clean and functional -- they come with fridges, and those in front have warm shower. We wouldn't seek this place out -- but if Beach Club next door is full, it's an acceptable fallback.

How about... Different than the Beach Club?
We really enjoyed Thai Tan Tien, it's actually a lot better than the Travelfish would lead you to believe, although it probably isn't as nice as the Beach Club. Can we just think of it as it's own entity though? The rooms are clean and well-furnished and each bungalow has a nice porch with hammocks or chairs. It was really QUIET and nearly no one bothers you on the beach. The restaurant is mediocre and there were a lot of mosquitoes during our visit. I would recommend renting a motorbike as it's pretty far from town. Bungalows are now starting at $22.

Lovely well-priced Bungalow Resort
This place was just perfect. The staff were friendly and some spoke great English. The rooms were big with everything one needs and nothing you don't. The bungalows are about 100 feet from the beach, where there is a great restaurant. Soccer balls, volleyballs, and snorkeling equipment available for free. Good food/drinks and cheap. And the beach may as well be private. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Much greater than your description
The place is just great. Simple, quiet, no fla fla. 10 bungalows all at 15$ all seasons. No music, no restaurant but a 2 eggs and baguette breakfast in the morning at 1,20$. Held by honest owner with only nice daughter and son. Might be less sophisticated than Beach Club but much more natural in my opinion. The so-called marshy swamp is an overflow of the sea from rainy season and habitat of frogs and crickets making wonderful concert for the night. What is better ?
