Saigon Kimlien Resort
Typical hotel fare

What we say:
Not to be confused with the Saigon Kimlien Hotel in Vinh City, this branch of the chain is on Cua Lo Beach. It's not actually much of a resort -- it has a small pool and good proximity to the beach, but otherwise it's just another Saigon company hotel -- that is to say, a little bit stuffy and a bit expensive. There's a large restaurant, of course, along with an event room and business services.

Hard to say Anything Nice
I have never written a review about a hotel before, but feel compelled. I stayed at the Saigon Kim Lien for six nights in July. At one point, they were going to make me leave the hotel because some government bigwigs were coming, but finally they let me stay. Service was slow or non-existent. Breakfast is held only until 8:30 each day, and this is a resort? Why do they think holiday-makers should eat breakfast no later than 8:30am? I showed up at 8:25 one morning for the supposedly complementary breakfast, and the manager tried to make me pay, saying I was ''late''. He let in Vietnamese ''late'' people after me, so I suspect he was just trying to cheat a Westerner from some more money. The same manager tried to get me to pay $50 for a fishing boat to go to the nearby island. I saw a price list that said anywhere from $12-28 for the same deal, so again I felt cheated. No mats or towels at the pool. Pool water filthy dirty. I could go on. The point is, for a supposedly four star hotel, this was my worst ever experience in a hotel of this caliber,, and I have been to over 40 countries.
